If you are looking for a all naural shampoo, without any chemicals, you will have to try the baking soda shampoo and apple cider vinegar rinse. So I have using the all natural, baking soda shampoo for a week and here are my results. Remember this is only my experience and I think my hair has to adjust to the lack of chemicals, it works differently for different people.
I followed the recipe, one tbsp baking soda with 1 cup water, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar with one cup water for the rinse. After the first wash with the rinse, my hair felt pretty good. I washed my hair every two days after that without the vinegar rinse and by the 3rd wash, my hair felt a little hard and pointed in different directions. I think I was using too much baking soda.
Usually the next day after I washed my hair with a regular commercial shampoo, I get a sticky reside feeling on my scalp and hair. The big thing with the baking soda wash was that I didn’t feel any sort of residue on my scalp, even two days after washing my hair.
I figured it was all trial and error so today ago, I made a batch of baking soda wash, 330mL (more than one cup) of water to 1 tbsp of baking soda. I put it in an old shampoo bottle and only used the amount I needed, basically wetting my hair and scalp with the mix. I also used the vinegar rinse and my hair seemed to be back to normal.
Now was it the less concentrated baking soda mix of the vinegar rinse? I guess I am not very good at experimenting… Need more time in the lab, I mean bathroom!
I will keep up with this ‘money saving’ shampoo and let you know the results in about 3-4 weeks. Why don’t you try it for yourself. If you still have lots of shampoo in your cupboards, use it up or give it away so as not to waste. Plus pouring any sort of chemicals down your drain or down the toilet would cause more harm to the environment than if it is spread out over time.

It has been over a year since I started using the baking soda “hair cleanser” and I am proud to say it works well. I have save so much money, the baking soda cost $1 a box and I use it for about 3-4 months, washing my hair every couple of days. Less chemicals down the drain too!
