There are many ways to go green and help the environment. New products are developed everyday using “green” materials and are more readily available. Here is some information about the most basic of our existence. We are all learning to help protect our environment in one way or other, so read on about Paper Alternatives
Paper. We use it without thinking every day. It holds that morning cup of “joe,” covers our plastic straws, and is used in everything from plates to napkins to paper towels, to the stack on copy machine at work. Sure, we all know about the deforestation going on to keep up with our demand of paper and other wood products. But what can we reasonably do to reduce our reliance on paper products and save the enivronment and the trees?
The first thing to consider when you are looking for environmentally responsible paper is that which has been recycled. Recycled paper was once used for something else. And if you do your part to recycle the paper you’re using, you can ensure that the cycle will continue.
Another big step towards saving the trees is considering ways to go green and “paper free.” For instance, you can pay your bills online, and request that they email you your monthly bills, rather than print and send you one in the mail. Also take an inventory of the paper products in your home. Sure there are some products, like toilet tissue, that you wont want to give up, but consider purchasing bar mops or rags to substitute for your paper towels, and using cloth napkins instead of paper napkins. You could also bring a ceramic mug with you to the office for coffee or water, instead of using the cardboard cups they supply. The opportunities are endless.
Using tree free paper is something that wasn’t even possible years ago, but now different products are being developed. Tree-free paper is being developed from products such as kenaf, sugar cane, and bamboo. While they arent readily available yet, you can buy them online.
The most important thing for you to do when it comes to using tree free paper is to be conscious of the things that you are using. First of all, take a good look at the places in your life where you don’t need to use paper, and cut it out entirely if you can. Then, take a look at the places where you can use recycled paper, and where you can recycle the paper that you are already using. If you can do these things, you will be on the fast track. Then, keep your eyes open for paper like materials that don’t come from trees, and buy them when you can.
One person can make a difference, we can all do our part and go green and protect the environment. Be open to change. Our future generations needs us to save our planet!
